Tebow - The #1 Christian Eligible Bachelor

It was only a matter of time when Tim would receive this honor. Now I will be curious to find out how many more girls give him a call now that they know he's single lol.

This article came from here

Christian Partner for Life, an online guide to Christian dating sites, has named rookie Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow as its most eligible Christian bachelor of the year.

It would be hard not to notice Tebow, given all the media attention on him, wrote Christian Partner for Life editor Jessica Maltby upon naming him "Single Christian of the Year" on Tuesday. Tebow, the son of missionary parents, is a virgin who is saving himself for marriage, Maltby said in a news release. And he stays humble in the limelight, she said, and continues to do volunteer work.

"While others may notice him for his football talents, we want to recognize Tim Tebow for his faith and dedication to Christianity off the field," Maltby said. "He represents a model for the type of person of faith that we think is perfect for single, committed Christians."

Christian dating websites include Christian Mingle, Christian Cafe and Singles of Faith. Electa Draper, The Denver Post

Tebow's first NFL game

I know I know it was just a preseason game and it wasn't against any big named defensive players but it was still his first game against an opponent. Overall I would give him a B-. I liked some things and didn't like other things. I felt he did a good job of finding his receivers with exception to one over thrown ball. His first throw was gorgeous if only the receiver had caught it. And of course we saw the reason Tim was picked in the first round, that final play TD. What a hit he took and delivered. But he got back up and thankfully didn't get injured. I'm sure that defensive player didn't expect a QB to come full force at him lol.

But overall I don't think there was more negatives then positives. Yes he did get sacked and fumbled which obviously the haters out there loved to see. But handling the pressure will come with practice. There is only so much pressure you will receive during training camp. The main thing I'm worried about is the lack of a star receiver that will be there to make the play when the pass is slightly off target.

Another topic that was brought up is Tebow's chances of moving ahead of Quinn for the backup spot. Since Quinn looked horrid yesterday, that definetly was put in Tebow's favor.

It's interesting when they compared Tebow's stats to McCoy, Clausen and Bradford and overall Tebow had a better day. But you gotta remember that it wasn't against anyone special. Lets wait and see when he officially starts against the first stringers whenever that time comes.

In case you missed any of Tebow's game yesterday here is a video with clips from it.

Tebow - Madden 11

Come on Tebow lets turn this into reality this year :)

5 things we might not have known about Tebow

This is a very interesting article. Provides some cool facts about Tebow. Hope you enjoy reading it.

This article came from www.askmen.com

Tim Tebow is one of the most talked about players in the NFL -- not too bad for a player who has yet to play a pro game.

Every sports fan has an opinion, one way or another, on the college superstar-turned-Denver-Broncos quarterback. He makes headlines with his jersey sales and his new haircut, so it’s hard for him to stay low-key.

Here are five things that you probably don’t know about Tim Tebow.

1- Tim Tebow, like Manny Pacquiao, was born in the Philippines

Tim Tebow and Manny Pacquiao are both champions. Tebow is one of the greatest college football players of all time, and Pacquiao is one of the best boxers of all time. What most people don’t know is that they’re native to the same country. That’s right -- Tebow was born in the Philippines.

Tebow’s parents were Christian missionaries, and he was born in Makati City, in the Philippines.

Tebow’s mom faced life-threatening complications while pregnant with him. While she was advised to have an abortion, she declined, and the rest is history.

2- Tim Tebow wasn’t always a quarterback

Tebow was homeschooled as a kid, but was allowed to play football for a local Florida high school. He started out playing tight end and linebacker before switching schools (and stirring up controversy) so he could play quarterback for a more pass-oriented offense.

He ended up at Nease High School, played quarterback, and garnered the attention of scouts across the nation.

Can you imagine Tim Tebow as a tight end or linebacker? Needless to say, heading to Nease High School was a very good idea for Tebow.

3- Tim Tebow was famous before he was famous

In 2006, MTV aired a show called Two-A-Days: Hoover High, which followed the Hoover Buccaneers, an Alabama high school football team. In the opening episode of the show, the Buccaneers played a school from Florida. The specific school? You guessed it -- Nease High School, with a quarterback by the name of Tim Tebow.

The Buccaneers proved to be too much for Tim Tebow and the rest of his Nease High School teammates in that matchup, but Tebow wouldn’t go on to lose too many nationally televised games going forward.

Before Tebow was a household name, he was already on TV doing what he does best: playing football.

4- Tim Tebow was almost part of the Alabama Crimson Tide

Many people associate Tim Tebow with his many achievements as quarterback for the Florida Gators. A lot of members of Gator Nation are still huge fans of Tebow, but think about this: One of Florida’s football gods almost went to Alabama.

Alabama was hot on Tim Tebow’s trail during the recruiting period. There were many people who thought Tebow would sign with the Crimson Tide, and I’m sure Gator fans cringe at the thought of Tebow wearing their rival’s crimson jersey.

Luckily for Gator Nation, Tebow chose Florida over Alabama (although both schools have claimed BCS National Championships in recent years).

5- He’s changing the way we think about NFL rookies

The Ron Burgundy in all of us says that Tim Tebow is kind of a big deal. He’s yet to play a snap in the NFL, but his jersey is already one of the top sellers in the league.

Not since Michael Vick have we seen so much hype surrounding a college quarterback entering the NFL. Perhaps the biggest difference is that Vick was the 1st overall pick; Tebow was the 25th overall pick, with many analysts projecting he’d fall out of the first round.

LeBron James had a lot of hype before he played a game in the NBA. James also started from day one, while Tim Tebow will start the season in a supporting role, and will be lucky to see much of the field on a regular basis. But who are we talking about with the NFL season just a few weeks away? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning aren’t making headlines -- Tim Tebow is.

#4 makes me wonder - What would the college football landscape be like if Tebow did indeed go to Alabama?

Tim Tebow will not be just another ordinary NFL player

Its clearly evident that Tebow stands out from every other NFL player in the league today. He is the most talked about player that has entered the league recently. He has sold the most jerseys as a rookie. And has been the face of negative feedback from those so called professionals once he committed to the NFL.

Tebow possesses the most potent attributes that any player should have. Desire, Commitment, Passion and Leadership. While some say these won't necessarily win games, it does play a rather large factor in it.

Think of this, what about if he came into the league with his attributes reversed. Lets say he entered the league as a pure QB, with great accuracy and great pocket presence, but he lacked the leadership and commitment to the game. Which QB would be easier to teach? I guarantee you that its easier to teach mechanics then to teach personal attributes.

So overall Tebow is in a great spot. He is learning fast and becoming a student of the game. His strong desire to be the best at what he does is propelling him to the top (at least with jersey sales and underwear endorsements so far).

The Bleacher Report put out a good article about Tebow and one segment said this

Tebow may not be blessed with the speed of Michael Vick, or the cannon of an arm Brett Favre has, but Tebow has something that every NFL player should have, heart and toughness.

This is so true. When he played at Florida, everyone knew who was running the ball on short yardage downs. Tim knew he could push the ball and get those yards. Yes, he does have size on his side but he always had heart too. He knew in his mind that if he wanted to, he could get those extra yards. He wasn't timid or scared. He was focused.

Another part of the article had this to say

Tebow knows how to put his head down and get the extra yard, which many quarterbacks are unwilling to do for fear of injury, and rightfully so, but Tebow has the strong and sturdy stature to make it happen.

Its amazing the willingness that Tebow has to perform when the time calls for it. When he suffered his concussion against Kentucky, that could of been it for him. He could of quit the game he loved to play. But instead of being overly careful about his health, he took on the challenge and continued to play hard. I love that passion in him.

The Bleacher Report also said this

There are few quarterbacks who demand the huddle and have the type of presence that a player like Peyton Manning has, but Tebow can be that type of player in the NFL. Manning is able to do it because everyone knows what kind of work he puts in after practice, studying film on his opponent and learning the game.

Now comparing Tebow with Manning will get some people upset, especially since Tim hasn't proved anything out on the field yet. However Tebow possesses the other aspects that Manning has. And those other aspects are what gained respect from his veteran teammates. Go back to what I mentioned earlier about Tebow and swapping attributes. If he had the power and accuracy then we wouldn't be talking to much about the differences. However since he has the other traits, Tim can learn the rest of it.

I will leave you guys with a neat video

Fantasy Draft - Where does Tebow go?

This is as great of time as any for this question to be brought up since the draft for my fantasy league starts tonight.

Even though I am a die hard Tebow fan, does that mean I should take him as my second QB behind someone like Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning? How much playing time will he actually get? I think we will see during preseason whether or not he is going to be a contributing factor to fantasy leagues. If the Broncos use Tebow during red zone plays and he is scoring a lot of Touchdowns, then it will be worth taking him for that reason.

I don't think he will give you a bunch of yards either passing or running (unless of course Quinn or Orton gets injured), so the primary points will come from touchdowns. I am so optimistic that when Tebow gets into the game, he will produce with a high success rate on whatever play he is asked to do.

Analysis report from CBSSports

Tebow doesn't appear to be affected much by expectations or pressure, which shouldn't be too surprising considering he was one of the most popular college football players ever. "I think I've had somewhat pressure on me the last few years and I don't really ever think about it because all I worry about is what I can control and that's my attitude, my effort and my focus," Tebow said. "Those are all things that I can control -- I can't control anything else so I'm really not going to spend much time worrying about it." Tebow is likely to break camp third on the Broncos' depth chart behind Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn. He might see some snaps in the Wildcat formation early in the season, but he isn't expected to make a big impact. He shouldn't be drafted in seasonal Fantasy formats and only drafted in rookie and long-term keeper formats.

I love his attitude when it comes to the pressure he has. He knows if he stays focused on the task at hand (learning the playbook and reading defenses), everything else will fall into place. He isn't worried about moving past Quinn for #2 on the depth chart. He knows everything will happen in due time. McDaniels won't force the issue and move him up the ranks if Tebow isn't ready.

Projected 2010 Stats: 1,245 passing yards, 7 totals TDs, 8 INTs

I don't know if I agree with the 7 total TDs because I think he will have more opportunities to score then just 7. I am looking at double digits total TDs.

Overall its going to be a fun preseason for the Broncos and a fun season to watch whenever Tebow plays.

Tebow's New Cut

What a style! I love that Tebow let them do this (not like he had a choice). It shows his dedication to the team and builds chemistry among the teammates. Great look Tim :)

Is Tebow's Faith A Distraction?

This is a VERY touchy subject. Most people would prefer not to have to talk about it. Some people can't help but bring it up. Nonetheless Tebow's power to witness, which started with his scriptures under his eyes, has brought up some key issues with Bronco's fans.

Has Tebow come to the NFL for other purposes other then to play football? Is he so dedicated to the Lord that he will become distracted from achieving his goal of being a great QB in the NFL. I don't think it has become a real issue for the most part. I believe he has still stayed focus with his NFL duties while maintaining a Christian lifestyle.

I know there have been quite a few articles that have brought up the subject of "When will Tebow finally fall?" or "How long will it take for Tebow to make a mistake?" It's people's nature to guess toward the negative of someone's life. For goodness sake, just look at our news today. How much of it is taken up by positive information vs. negative crap. Its amazing how you look around and there are murders, prostitutes, drug shootings etc. plastered all over your local news.

Well I am one in probably the minority that hopes that Tebow stays in the light throughout his entire career and stays clean. I would love to see him force the public to talk about his positive traits and positive actions due to not having any negative failings. Now I know we aren't perfect. Nobody is here on earth. But that doesn't mean you can't do your best at keeping a clean slate. And I pray that Tebow can keep his slate nice and spotless.

The following quotes were taken from an Article located in The Denver Post. This article talked about how Bronco's fans were divided due to Tebow's faith.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Michelle Olson calls herself the anti-Tebow.

She is a diehard Broncos fan but has no love in her heart for its limelight-stealing sensation, rookie quarterback and evangelical everyman Tim Tebow.

"He's a big distraction and has done nothing to prove he's NFL material," the 25-year-old Fort Collins woman said Tuesday morning at Broncos training camp in Dove Valley.

It's Tebow's eagerness to share his Christian values and beliefs that really irks her.

"That's why I hate him," she said.

"It's my personal opinion that if you don't have a uterus, you don't have a right to express an opinion about abortion," Olson snapped.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"That's why I adore him," said Jennifer Longmore, 26, of Loveland, who quickly adds that "it's a miracle" she and Olson are good friends.

"I think he's absolutely great testimony, and I'm glad he was not aborted in the missionary field," Longmore said.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"We are excited he's here in town," said Robin Gentry, a 38-year-old mother of three from Centennial who identifies herself as an evangelical Christian.

"He's not afraid to talk about his faith or show people what he believes," Gentry said. "I like him as a person. I like his integrity."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dillon Meyers, an 11-year-old from Littleton, is, like many people, wearing Tebow's No. 15 jersey.

"I think he's going to be good. I like that he looks up to people and believes in God," Dillon said.

His grandfather, Ron Woitalewicz, said he approves of Dillon's looking up to Tebow.

"His character, his work ethic and beliefs make him special," Woitalewicz said. "We're Catholic. People are excited about his devotion and faith. In an age of flamboyant NFL players, he's grounded. It's not all about him."

There are other pro athletes out there who are like that, Woitalewicz said, "but he's just more open about it."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

James Perry, 22, of Denver comes from a long line of Broncos fans. He said he likes to think that religion is kept separate from what happens on the field, yet he realizes that Tebow's faith is an important part of his character.

"He plays with a lot of heart," Perry said. "He's very fierce on the field. He has a great attitude. You watch him in the wind sprints — he never gives up. He never dogs out."

Tebow is the only player on the team whose name Longmore knows.

I would be interested in hearing your comments and seeing how both sides feel about the situation. We obviously know it is definetly divided.

Tebow a big draw at Broncos training camp

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -No insubordination. No contract consternation. No split locker room.

No more bad karma - just a bit of bad luck.

The Denver Broncos kicked off training camp without the negativity that enveloped them a year ago, when their two first-round draft picks were holdouts and the man wearing No. 15 was recalcitrant receiver Brandon Marshall.

With Marshall in Miami, rookie quarterback Tim Tebow is donning that number now, and his presence was a big reason the Broncos drew 3,103 fans to the start of training camp, a record for the first day at Dove Valley.

The only damper? Running backs Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter got hurt.

That might have been the only two times many in the crowd took their eyes off Tebow, the two-time national champion from Florida and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner.

"Guy was a great player in college," Champ Bailey said. "He's going to do some great things for us."

Fans serenaded Tebow with cheers when he walked onto the field and when he stretched, then chanted his name when he walked off after winning every single one of the post-practice sideline sprints.

"I thought it was Bannan," cracked defensive lineman Justin Bannan. "Isn't that what they're out here for? No, obviously, it's Tebow. Everyone's out here to see him and it looks like he's doing all right."

Bannan said the veterans don't mind that Tebow's stealing the show.

"Obviously, he's a special case and he had an unbelievable collegiate career. He's the only guy to have a career like that, so it kind of demands that kind of attention," Bannan said.

Tebow is certainly accustomed to this adoration.

"We had some pretty passionate fans at Florida, too," he said.

Tebowmania is everywhere, from the jerseys in the crowd to the hand-painted signs kids held up.

Even wide receiver Brandon Stokley's house is abuzz over Tebow.

"He surpassed me as my son's favorite player on the Broncos," Stokley conceded.

The crowd even burst into applause when Tebow scrambled out of the pocket in 7-on-7 drills without the rush of any linemen.

For all the adulation, Tebow remains a raw rookie buried not only in the playbook but in the film room studying ways to improve his mechanics as he adjusts to the pro game.

"I'm still working on footwork and my drops and things like that but as far as just my throwing motion, it's more of just getting my feet in place," he said.

Tebow is working behind starter Kyle Orton and fellow newcomer Brady Quinn and throwing to a deep stable of 10 receivers, including fellow first-round pick Demaryius Thomas.

===============================================================

I would love to be at the Broncos training camp right now. I'm sure it is a blast watching Tebow and the other Broncos fight for position. The fact that he beat everyone out on sideline sprints, is so cool. It just shows his dedication to be excellent (not perfect) at everything he puts his mind to. Keep it up Tim, just don't get injured - please don't get injured.

Its awesome to see the veterans give such support to Tebow. Bailey is not a pushover player but he is a star player in the league. And to see him say the things about Tim that he does is great.

Excellent Article - What did Tebow do to deserve all this hate?

Despite all the successes that Tebow has earned over his on and off the field life, there are still the numerous people who despise him. I guess people just do not like other people who succeed and do well at what they do.

This article from the Orlando Sentinal talks about this such topic and gives some great pointers so I hope everyone will read it in its entirety.

Feel free to comment as I'm sure you guys will have an opinion since it seems like everyone does to some degree whether positive or negative.

I will post tidbits of the article since its fairly long.

Here we go
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the sins of Tim Tebow: He is nice to strangers. He's never been arrested. His body is not a canvas of unsightly tattoos. He sometimes uses the word "freak" as a euphemism for the F-bomb because he doesn't curse. He is one of the greatest football players in college football history.

How anyone can stand him is anybody's guess.

The venom spews daily, in the anonymity of blog posts, in cyberspace hate groups, in the voices of callers from Alabama to Alaska. Tim Tebow, party piƱata. Everybody take a whack.

The chaos that surrounds Tebow is baffling. He is the most polarizing athlete of this generation, for reasons that remain murky.

No question there's a lot of love for him out there, and the kissy-poo infatuation can go overboard. But a lot of people loathe him simply because he's a great football player, a nice guy, and has received a ton of good publicity because of the things that he does. The pop psychology spin goes deeper than the obvious Gator-hater backlash.

How else does one explain a Facebook page called "I HATE Tim Tebow," with 3,516 members? "This group is for" anyone who hates that unathletic fullback who takes snaps as a quarterback," it says on the page.

Read the rip jobs wishing misery on Tebow: "Tebow will go down as the best clipboard holder and cheerleader the NFL has ever seen."

Hear the critics like former NFL great Joe Theismann, who said during Super Bowl week that Tebow should have quit playing football after graduating from Florida.

Tebow should tell all of them to go kiss his Jockey shorts, now that he has a few to spare as the new company spokesman.

I hope Tebow destroys all the NFL myths about prototype quarterbacks. I hope he makes the Jacksonville brain trust bop foreheads in shame and scream: "What were we thinking!" I hope he continues to be authentic in his wholesome approach to football, family and faith.

"He has proven he practices what he preaches, and a lot of athletes don't do that, so a lot of people are skeptical," said Eric Wilbur, a former teammate at Florida and his friend. "No other athlete has been able to do it, whether it's Tiger Woods or Kobe Bryant. We thought they were this and they're not."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just pray that Tebow will continue on this path he is on and keep proving his doubters wrong. All it will take is one bad choice and everyone will slam him for it but if he keeps it up, he will continue to make a lot of followers. Hopefully at some point these 'haters' will quit their negative outlook about Tebow and realize they are just blowing hot air into the wind with no given point in doing it.

Thanks for reading this article and I am looking forward to your comments.
